National Audit Office Investigates Thames Tideway Tunnel

At long last the NAO is undertaking an investigation into the outdated, Thames Tideway Tunnel that the Thames Blue Green Economy NGO has long been campaigning against.
The outcome is expected in the Autumn. Please write in and tell them why Integrated Water Resource Management needs to be urgently considered by the Government instead of outdated concrete vanity projects. See here for more info on why the Thames Tideway Tunnel is a huge waste of public money.
From the NAO website below-
The Thames Tideway Tunnel is a £4.2 billion underground sewer intended to reduce the volume of spills from London’s sewers into the tidal part of the Thames, and therefore achieve compliance with the Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive. Unusually for the privatised English & Welsh water sector, it is being delivered by a specially created company, and benefits from a contingent support package provided by government in its construction phase.
This investigation is a follow-up to our 2014 report, Thames Tideway Tunnel: early review of potential risks to value for money. It will examine how the project’s public sector steering group gained assurance over the evidence base which informed the target outcome for the project and the choice of the Tunnel over alternative options. It will also set out the risks faced by customers and taxpayers as the project moves towards completion, and how these risks are being mitigated. If you would like to provide evidence for our study please email the study team onenquiries@nao.gsi.gov.uk, putting the study title in the subject line. The team will consider the evidence you provide; however, please note that due to the volume of information we receive we may not respond to you directly.
