UK Climate Litigation Team Up & Running

A group of lawyers, academics, scientists and campaigners have come together to prepare for climate litigation against the UK Government for failing to implement adequate measures to avoid dangerous climate change. In fact, in recent months, the UK Government has been slashing its commitments to renewables, carbon capture storage, zero carbon new homes and instead embarking on a reckless dash for gas (fracking) and promotion of large carbon intensive infrastructure projects.

Inspiration has come from the successful Dutch Urgenda case and the climate litigation pursued by Our Children’s Trust in the USA.

All legal avenues will be explored. It is anticipated that a number of cases will be filed against the Government when opportunities present themselves.

A crowd funding platform to finance the litigation will be launched shortly and will be widely advertised including here.
